I remember when we were kids when we were bored we used to play hit and run.
We didn't call it hit and run but that's what we used to do...one would hit the
other and then run away laughing while the other chased them down the hall.
Another one was Mom used to want us to play outside in the day so she would
send us out until dinnertime and then when it was time to come in she would go
to the door and start calling our names, including our middle names...Johnny
Miiichaaaaeeeel...Jane Eeeeliiiizaaabeeeth. RUN! Mom's calling. We ran as fast
as we could in hopes that she couldn't get our middle names out again. RUN! By
the time we got to high school we were best friends. We had mutual friends and
used to go skiing (both water and snow), dancing, and going to rock concerts...
lots of rock concerts! John was the one that got me interested in different
styles of music, so much so that one year for Christmas he bought me my first
LP - Earth, Wind and Fire. Who? Was my response. I think the LP was for me - we
shared it anyway. John worked really hard in grocery to buy his first car - a
'67 Chevy Camaro. He loved that car and took many a road trip in it. One of his
favorites was to Laguna Seca for motorcycle racing. He and his mates would pile
in the car and off they would go even sleeping in the car. The one thing I
remember about John is his love of flying. He wanted to be a pilot and after
the movie Top Gun he wanted to be a jet pilot. Was that a government funded
movie to recruit people? Anyway, wearing glasses stopped that move although
once in Washington he found a way to get up in the sky and fly a plane. His
phrase...Love to fly low! Above all John's biggest love is his family. He loves
his wife unconditionally. She's truely his best friend. Brendon and Devon are
the pride of his life, always encouraging them to try different sports and look
for adventures. This is only a snapshot of the memories I have of my brother
and I'll leave you with...John was always up for an adventure and I believe
John's on another adventure...the Life after Death Adventure. We'll all go
there one day, but obviously he made it there before us. He was always
competative.
