I had the honor of being one of Carlos' preschool teachers back in 1993/94. He was an amazing and unforgettable little boy; to this day I still tell people stories about him: the way he could always make me and everyone else around him smile and laugh. That year in an open house, he gave me an owl candle; I still have this candle, along with a photo of him taken with me and my nephew Alex. Each time I see either of these two objects, I smile and think of Carlos, and how happy he could make people. The news of his death saddens me tremendously, and my heart goes out to his mother, who is also a lovely person whom I remember very fondly. I only knew Carlos as a preschooler, but I have no doubt that he was a fine young man, and it is tragic that he has left us so soon. Rest in peace, Carlos; we will all miss you very much.

Janice- We all have been greiving for Carlos and cannot express how sad we are, and how excrutiating this must be - please know you have and will be in our prayers, as Carlos is as well. I will always remember Carlos - even though I have not seen him in several years, as such a sweet and energetic little guy- all those years of he and Brendan being in class together, the two short ones! I remember what a dynamo he was on the soccer field, and how inspired I was by you as his mom-how dedicated you were to him - the love you had for him was obvious and my heart truly is sad for you. Please know we are here if you ever need a shoulder to lean on. God bless you- Lynn, Joe, Brendan and Jill

Janis, I can still see Carlos and Keller dancing in Miss Hannah's dance class at La Petite Academy many years ago. His eyes were big with excitement and what a trooper, given he was the only boy and had to dress up in the outfits ! It was a treat to run into the two of you many years later at a soccer tournament in Camas during the kids HS years. Given the 13 years that had passed, it was clearly evident that Carlos had grown and matured into a remarkable young man. We know that there is nothing that we can say to ease the pain, but please know that we are all here for you if there is anything you need. Also, that Carlos has touched many people over his 22 years and each of those people are better for having known Carlos ... he will be ever looking down on all of us, but especially you ! Love, The Hadens

Janis, I don't know what words to say to ease your pain. As you know, I met Carlos in 2008 when he moved into the apts. on Betz Rd. He quickly won me over with his humor and always had a smile on his face when he came into the office. It was always a pleasure to see him even after he moved out last year....he'd pop in out of nowhere just to say hi. I was glad to have him back at Barrington this Spring. He would come in and plop down in the chair in front of my desk and go to town on the Tootsie Rolls in the metal truck on the counter. I think he was a terrific young man and I know from him what a close relationship the two of you had. I will remember him always, God Bless, Mike

Janis, I am so sorry to hear about Carlos. I have wonderful memories of Carlos in my class. He was a great boy! He always had a smile on his face. I would often see Carlos playing soccer at the fields near the stadium. He would always say "hello." You should be proud of the young man you raised. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Holly Hughes

Janis, I still have the pictures of when you brought Carlos to visit Sarah - just 6 months younger - when we lived in Meadowglade. So adorable. I'm thinking of you and praying for you, dear friend. You are one of the most caring and loving people I know. I'm so, so sorry. Love you and miss you. See you soon! Love, Bev

We will miss Carlos and his friendly smile and his unwavering gentle and kind disposition. Always thoughtful and polite, we could count on him to be quick with a wave and greetings whenever we would see him in the court. It was easy to tell, especially in listening to the love and pride in your voice whenever you spoke of him, that he was a most wonderful and devoted son. My family and I are so incredibly sorry for your loss. Words cannot adequately express our feelings at this time, but know that our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with you. If there is ever anything we can ever do, we are only a phone call – or one door – away. Laura, Sarah, Gary, Raevyn, Darian & Ryleigh

Dearest Janis, my deepest condolences to you and your family. I remember so well the joy and just a bit of trepidation the day when Carlos came into your life. You were so determined to be the best mother ever, which you did in everything you endeavor. Not easy for anyone, but you have always been the driver and so giving to others. I had the pleasure to see you both grow up so wonderfully, thank you for those gifts. I am sure Carlos will always be loved and close, as will his mother. Love is a blessing and thank you for the reminder to give unconditionally. Hugs, Bruce.

Janis, I will cherish the memories of watching Carlos play soccer, the outing to Chuck e Cheese, and the girls get together with little Carlos in tow. It was such a joy to watch you glow with happiness and love for Carlos. My friend, know I am there and always will be there for you. With deepest sympathy, Jan Webb
