Don helped me land a job when I was out of work many years ago and just starting out in the accounting field. We worked together at Clark County PW and the Washington State Auditor's Office. I enjoyed working with Don and he taught me much about the profession. He was an intelligent man with a great sense of humor. Over the years, I have often thought about him. My condolences to Sharon, Nicole, Stephanie, and extended family and friends.

Don was a part of our family from before I was born. As a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity he was a brother with my father Del Grigsby. To my brother and I he was "Uncle Spud" and he was around regularly as we grew up. Since he didn't have a family of his own at that time he joined the Grigsby family as well as the Hill's and I am sure others. Spud was a big active and athletic man who joined us in backpacking, camping, and other family events when he was not out with his buddies scuba diving or whatever. He taught us to play handball, to waterski, took us out snorkling off Alki Point where he lived for a time and was a wonderful influence on our lives. I will always remember him backpacking into Dewey Lake after dark with a gallon of wine and his pack laden with swim fins, masks, snorkles. The next day he and I went into the water swimming while there was still ice on the surface of the lake. I will always remember Spud as a mentor and true friend that I could always count on.

"Uncle Don" will always be part of my good childhood memories. He was tall, strong, and had a fabulous laugh.

We light this candle in loving tribute to our beloved husband and father. He was such kind person, generous, funny, charismatic, adventurous and loving. He will be dearly missed.
