Living in England, I never met Henry in person but from family history research, we were both descended from John Townsend of Steeple Ashton, England, and from emailing with his sister Carol, I felt I knew Henry just a little. From what I have read in tribute, he must have been a wonderful man and a wonderful father. Henry, rest in peace.

I was so proud to be by your side in your final hours holding your hand and seeing your last smile. I Love You with All My Heart and will so deeply miss you Dad !!!!!

To who wrote the above Papa story, with memories of spending nights at Papa's house..... we'd love to know who you are if you'll please share your name. I don't recall any one spending nights at our house watching horror movies..... and our couch was against a wall, lol, hiding there must have been a challenge. A definite characteristic about my dad was that he had a set bedtime at 9pm sharp so he could get up at 4:45 am every morning and go to work to support a large family in a small 3 bedroom house. He never got up after he went to bed and we heard him snoring all night long :) Story by LuEllen Townsend XO!

Papa was amazing. He loved me like I was his granddaughter, and I loved him like he was my grandfather. Spending the night at his house as a child was always fun. I would watch horror movies and hide behind the couch, and he would chuckle and tuck me back in, saying they are not real and that I should be asleep. And I remember, even today, driving through a tunnel and honking our car horn, and as I go through tunnels now I think of papa. The man I knew for as long as I remember, will forever be missed and loved.... (No time to say goodbye You were gone before we knew it, And only God knows why. My heart still aches in sadness And secret tears still flow. What it meant to lose you, No one will ever know. I love you Papa. )

I just want to send my sincere sympathy and thoughts to all of Henry's family. Henry was a kind and sweet man that I got to know when he worked for my dad at Haag & Shaw. When my son, Ryan was a little boy he always wanted to go for a ride in the big dump truck with Henry and Henry was always willing to take him with a big smile, little did Henry know that the ride wasn't going to be a one time event but would end up being many, many ride alongs throughout the years with the two of them forging a bond which didn't end with the two of them but continued when Henry introduced Ryan to a boy who would become his best friend and still is to this day, Henry's grandson, Aaron. May your many memories bring you comfort.

For the last 5 1/2 months I have watched you and cared for you while you became increasingly frustrated and angry at a body that did not allow you to do the things you wanted to do. I miss your infectious smile and the mischievous twinkle in your eyes. I will love you always.

Henry Townsend was an important part of our "Prime Time" Group at Fourth Plain Church of the Nazarene. Henry always had a warm smile and winkling eyes that made us all feel welcome. He used his landscaping skills to make significant improvements to the park behind our church known as "Barefoot Park." Henry had a strong faith in Christ, a deep devotion to his wife and family, and was always ready to help others in need. Henry will be very greatly missed.

Terri we knew your Dad through your memories you shared with us. You had such happy memories and your love for your father showed through. Your father had to be so proud to have a daughter that had so much love and respect for him. He will always live in your heart and in the thought of those you have shared your memories with.
