Marion,
Like Len Wass, I served under Ivan in the Office of Naval Research reserve unit in Chicago. Ivan also spent several nights on drill weekends at my house. Len alerted me to Ivan's passing, and I passed the word along to my Naval Reserve Center Chicago email distribution list.
I'm sorry I lost track of Ivan years ago, and more so now that he's gone. He was a pleasure to work for and a good friend. A true officer and gentlemen who will be missed.

Hello Marion
Deanne and I were extremely saddened to hear of Ivan's passing. We were thankful that Erika was able to reach us as we were in Lacey, Washington. We will always remember our great RV travels, adventures and hours of card games together with Ivan and you. I will miss my friend very much. If you need anything, please do not hesitate to call. Marion and family,
My love and prayers go out to all of you. I am saddened by hearing of Ivan's death, your husband, father, grandfather and best friend. It's been many years, but time does not diminish great memories and Troy High School, Class of 1956 had many. Ivan was one of my best high school buddies, a friend to many. So glad we had the opportunity to spend some time with you and Ivan on your October trip to Michigan. All of us there that night will cherish the time we all had together. May the love of family and friends help you through this difficult time.
Ingrid

My sincere condolences to Marion and the entire family. I served under Ivan in the Chicago Naval Reserve, and he used to stay at my home on those weekends. He was a marvelous man, and a real Vietnam war naval aviation hero. He flew Vigilante Recon jets, armed only with a camera, over Hanoi and other target areas, doing pre- and post-attack reconnaissance. We will miss him. His passing comes as a shock. I didn't know he was ill.
