Obituary of Rosa Yoakum

Rosa Rio Grande Yoakum peacefully passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2007 in Vancouver after a very long courageous and brave battle with cancer. Born on April 8, 1937 in Palisade, Colorado, Rosa was 70 years old. A lifetime Camas-Washougal resident, Rosa worked as a homemaker raising her children. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, sewing, reading, crafts, sightseeing, playing bingo, and socializing. Rosa is survived by her loving daughters Irene (Eldon) Wagner of Camas, Kristin (Tony) Berger of Vancouver, Pamela (Mike) Jensen Washougal, Deana Yoakum (Jason Roth) of Battle Ground, and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Darrell Yoakum (1988) and grandson Albert "Eugene" Haines (1977). There will be a graveside service for Rosa on Tuesday, September 18th at 1:00 pm at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:30 at Columbia Ridge Assisted Living Home in Washougal. Memorials in Rosa's honor may be made to the Ray Hickey Hospice House. Rosa loved people and would give the shirt off of her back to anyone in need. Her great big smile was a signature to all who she greeted. She enjoyed humor and jokes and laughed at them even if she didn't understand the punch line. Most of all, Rosa loved her family and the Lord. It is through her loving family and friends that she touched, that makes her spirit live on forever. Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
