Obituary of James David Cox

J. David Cox passed away on February 27, 2016. He was 85 years old.
David was born in Bentonville, Arkansas on December 11, 1930 to his parents Goldie and Alpha Cox.
David was a lifelong Washougal resident and graduated from Washougal High School in 1949. He received his Bachelor’s degree at Eastern Washington State College, and went on to receive his Master’s Degree in Education from Portland State University. David worked at Washougal High School where he taught woodshop and drafting, coached football and basketball, was the Athletic Director and also Vice Principal. His love and dedication for his student will be forever appreciated and remembered. David loved his family, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the S.W. WA Angler Club, and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed woodworking, and was a member of Quill & Feather Wood Carvers Club.
Survivors include his sons Dave (Debby) and Doug (Christie), his daughter Jodi (Fred), 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, his two brothers, Francis and Don, and his two sisters Flora and June. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce, and two brothers: Bill and Vernon.
A graveside service will take place on Friday, March 4, 11 AM at Washougal Memorial Cemetery – all are welcome to join. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, March 26 at 3 PM in the Washougal High School main gym. Those who wish may make a contribution in David’s name to the Washougal High School Athletic Fund. Brown’s Funeral Home have been entrusted with arrangements.
