I only just learned of Paul's passing today, but wanted to share how much I had appreciated him. He had a big heart and was the person that made me feel the most welcome when I, a young twentysomething year old kid, decided to learn bridge. Despite feeling out of place as the youngest person in the room, Paul took me under his wing and encouraged and challenged me to keep at it. His piercing look over the top of his glasses as I am struggling to understand the right play to make is a fond memory. I did not know him outside of the bridge club, but his character and warm booming laugh will be missed.
