Obituary of Carol Mae Schneider
Please share a memory of Carol to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Carol Mae Long Schneider passed away April 18, 2017, near her home in Vancouver, Wa, at the age of 93, after a long and joyful life.
Her parents, Mary and Charles Long, and brother, also Charles Long and sister, Thelma Raymond, all predeceased her.
Following two years at Grays Harbor College, she began working for the Department of Social and Health Services in Olympia, retiring after 27 years as the Superintendent of Medical Audit.
In 1943, Carol married Kenneth Schneider and they spent many years living in various homes on Puget Sound.
She and Ken enjoyed "wintering" in Yuma and Hawaii.
46 years of marriage, Ken passed away.
At age 68, Carol, a realtor, began to fulfill her passion of building and remodeling homes, acting as a general contractor.
An avid traveler, she cruised the Pacific Ocean, including Alaska, Hawaiian Islands, Mexico and Caribbean and Mississippi River. She also traveled in Europe and China.
A lifetime member of Eastern Star in Olympia, and one of the first "Lady" Elks in Yuma, she was active in Lions Clubs in Aberdeen, Longview, and Olympia.
It was in the Lion's Club "Chat Room" that she was introduced to Past District Governor, Charles Samuel (Sam) Price, her loyal and loving husband the last 16 years.
She and Sam enjoyed staying at Ocean Shores and all up and down the Oregon Coast. Their most cherished memories are of the "Yuma Group."
She is survived by her daughter, Jill Brown and husband David Viuhkola, and daughter, Judy and her husband Tsuyoshi Inouye, her granddaughter Lisa and grandson Aaron and his wife Amanda, and their three boys, Ayden, Alec, and Tyler.
She is also survived by her husband Sam, his daughter Mary Eleanor Smith, and four sons, Bill, Brad, Brent and Bryan Price and their offspring.
Carol will be remembered for lighting up the room with her beautiful smile, her warmth and kindness and unique style.
Her devoted husband, Sam, remained at her side through thick and thin, always a gentlemen with a very dry sense humor.
She was a happy mom, lucky in love, and very blessed. We will greatly miss her.
A graveside memorial service, for family and friends, is being held in Tumwater, Washington, at Oddfellows Cemetary at 12 o'clock on Wednesday, May 3, 2017.
Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services were entrusted with the arrangements.
