Dick Salik posted a condolence

I am so sorry to learn recently that we lost one of the most wonderful friends a family ever could have. She and Dale, not to forget her mother Tillie, shared our family's birthdays and holidays in Camas and in Salem. They had the most joyous parties at their home that I have ever had anywhere with anyone in the entire United States.
We moved out to Salem in 1972. I had a consulting project for the City of Camas when I was with the Pubic Administration Service in either 1970 or1971. We met Ernie and Dale during that time and had a great time. So much so that we loved it when I found a job in Salem. And then the relationship blossomed.
Since our closest family lived near Chicago, Ernie and Dale became our daughter Shana's and son Kyle's uncle and aunt. Tillie became their grandmother.
We will miss her but her memory will always be with us. As I sit here typing this, tears of sadness are streaming down my face. She will never be forgotten - we loved her and Dale immensely. She was the funniest, greatest person we have ever spent years with.
With great sadness,
The Salik Family in Chatham, Illinois.
Dick, Judy, Shana and Kyle

Ernie hired me as a houskeeper years ago. Ernie impacted my life in many ways. She encouraged me to stay in school and talked with me about her life. I just found out and I am very saddened by her passing. Dale is in my thoughts and prayers.

We have both known Ernie for many years. David knew her when she worked at the Camas Mill. I knew her from school, she was in the same class with my sister. Later years we connected again through knitting at the local knit shop. She was always fun to be around.
Our prayers are with you and your family, may she Rest In Peace.
