At the Paris American High School reunion in Portland I had the pleasure of spending time with Douglas talking about high school memories as we flipped through year book pages. What a gentle and happy person. He is missed.

Dear Nancy and all the family,
I am so terribly sorry to hear of Doug's sudden passing. All the conversation and sharing we enjoyed in Portland is so fresh and real, it's hard to believe that he is gone. What a bright, energetic man he was, and obviously a very loving husband, too. it was uniquely special to have the time together so near the end. I will be thinking of you all with heartfelt sympathy.
Yours,
Jocelyn Curry Asher

I have many great memories of Doug from our long time friendship that began at the Aetna in June of 1972. The Rookies bowling team, the bridge games and the BSO Tanglewood concerts to name just a few. And then there was the time that I helped Doug move up to Boston to start his MBA at the Harvard B-school. He was a great guy and a great friend who will be sorely missed. My sincerest condolences to the Nelson family on the loss of their husband and father. Marty Proulx
