Judith “Judi” Irene Cottom French
November 20, 1944 - February 20, 2019
Judi passed away peacefully at her home on February 20, 2019, in Camas, Washington surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Monmouth, Il. She made the move to Salem, Oregon, and her last 20 years were spent in Camas, Washington, which she enjoyed immensely.
Her favorite activities were in the kitchen with her cherished KitchenAid. She loved working at multiple Denny’s restaurants with all of her work family, friends, and customers. When she wasn’t baking, she was canning or making other specialty treats and dinners. She especially enjoyed the opportunity to make Christmas treats for everyone. Other favorite hobbies included spending time with family and friends, reading, and visiting casinos.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie (Mike) Bevens; 2 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Brothers, David (Laurie) Cottom, Randy Vaughn, Alan (Robin) Cottom and sister, Lori (Scott) Larson. 3 nephews, 4 nieces, and longtime friend and caregiver Bill Butler, and a multitude of close personal friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; Earl Cottom and Lora Dalton; husband, Jerry French; and infant son, Jamie.
In lieu of flowers, Judi requested donations be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital or St. Jude’s Hospital. Those spoke to her heart and she especially appreciated that families weren’t required to pay for medical services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown’s Funeral Home.
