Obituary of Charles John Mickes

Charles “Chuck” John Mickes of Camas, WA passed away at home May 4th, 2019. Chuck was born March 18, 1931 in Camas, WA to Charles and Amelia Mickes. He was one of eleven children.
Chuck actively served in the Army from June 1953 to May 1955. He worked at Crown Zellerbach, BPA, Tile Distributors and Columbia Vista. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and cut wood. He loved to spend time at the family cabin in Hood Canal and took multiple trips to Alaska and Canada. He had a great sense of humor and a positive attitude which contributed to his lengthy life after he was told his bypass in 1987 would last maybe 10-15 years.
Charles is survived by his wife Caroline, daughter Corina Gesler (Joe), son CJ (Laurie), son Craig, and daughter Carla Slocum (Clint), grandsons Jared and Joel Gesler, and 2 great-grandsons.
