Obituary of Richard Wayne Morisette
Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard Morisette, a former resident of Washougal, Washington, passed away on October 20, 2020, in Portland, Oregon, after a courageous 3-year battle with heart failure. He was 50 years old. Richard fought valiantly for life, waiting and hoping for a heart and kidney transplant, but one never came. He suffered many surgical procedures, and the implant of a heart pump, to no avail. In hopes that others might benefit, Richard donated his eyes and skin. His other organs were too ravaged by the failure of his heart.
Born in Hillsboro, Oregon, Richard also lived in Washougal, Washington, North Dakota, and his last residence, Hays, Kansas. He worked at many skilled trades, but excelled at his passion, home improvement and construction and landscaping, as well as creating fabulous water features. He was an accomplished artist and loved to sketch and create, also enjoying the occasional trip to a casino. His love of the outdoors and the ocean brought much peace in his life. Richard was a compassionate man and loved helping others, volunteering at Habitat for Humanity, and helping the disabled. Many benefitted from his skills in mechanics and construction.
Richard is survived by the love of his life, Christy Herrman of Hays, Kansas; his parents, Jack and Judy Sutherland of Roundup, Montana; his sister, Samra Thompson of Harker Heights, Texas; sons, Tyler and Taylor of Dickinson, North Dakota, and a lifelong friend he referred lovingly to as his brother, Clint Christensen of Washougal, Washington, also many, many friends and loved ones.
