Obituary of Joseph George Grbac

Joseph George Grbac, 82, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 in Vancouver, Washington. He was a resident of Clark County for 45 years.  Joe was born a twin with his brother George on December 30, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri, to his parents, George and Cecilia (Kofron) Grbac. He served the nation in the US Navy after High School, on board the USS Helena. He worked as an accomplished Millwright at Boise Cascade Paper Mill in Vancouver, eventually retiring after a long career there. He became a Freemason at Ridgefield-Daylight Lodge #237 F&AM, where he distinguished himself and was granted the title of Honorary Past Master. He joined Afifi Shrine Temple in Tacoma WA, becoming President of Gateway Shrine Club in 2013 and again in 2014. He was also a member of Martha Washington Chapter #42 OES and achieved Honorary Past Patron therein. As a veteran he joined and supported the Smith-Reynolds American Legion Hall #14 in Vancouver, WA. Most of Joe’s charitable volunteering was with the Shriners. He was a child patient of the St. Louis Shriners Hospitals for Children with a limb deficiency in his right leg. He lovingly gave back as the Shrine Clown “Meatball”, and by volunteering countless hours in the kitchen at the Masonic Lodge and at the Clark County Fair Shriners Seafood booth. You may have seen him in a Parade or making balloons for children with Afifi SW Washington Shrine Clowns. He lived for the beach, playing poker with his club, gardening, cooking, Seattle Seahawks games, and enjoying these things among family and friends. Joe is survived by his wife, Brenda at home; daughter, Karen (Milton) Spillers of Vancouver, Washington; sons, Mike (Kathy) Scott of Houston, Texas, Mark Scott of Vancouver, Washington; sister, Cecilia Wilhelm of San Antonio, Texas; 4 grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother George Grbac. Per the family a service will be scheduled at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Children Hospital or the Peace Health Cancer Fund. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown's Funeral Home in Camas, Washington.
