Obituary of Elizabeth Marie Merrill

Elizabeth (Betty) Siebert Merrill passed away peacefully January 21, 2021 in Vancouver, Washington. Daughters Linda Merrill and Kathie Nichols were able to be with her and hold her hand as she succumbed to Covid 19. The disease was too much for her beautiful 88 year old body to handle. She fought the good fight. The last of five children, Betty was born December 16, 1932 in Jamestown, ND to Mary (Sabinsh) and Jon Siebert. Mary Sabinish died in 1946. In 1948 Betty moved with her father to Camas Washington. Here she met and married Burton Merrill. They raised five children, Mike (Darlene), Bruce, Linda Middagh, Lori, and Kathie (Kraig) Nichols and a grandson Alan Merrill Betty is survived by son Bruce, daughters Linda Middagh and Kathie (Kraig ) Nichols and grandchildren and great grandchildren, Tosha (Andrew Reyes) Bennett, Jaxon & Jorel; Jess (Vidyia) Nichols, Dylan; Tyler Merrill, Tatum & Reese; Tory (Keeley) Merrill; Burton Thomas Merrill; Bella Merrill; Becky Merrill; Alan Merrill Jr. and much loved grand dog Milo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 48 years in 1997, daughter Lori, grandson Joshua James Mason and granddaughter Caitlin Merrill. Betty and Burt will be interred in the Camas Cemetery together with Lori and Joshua. Betty was a special woman: wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend to all who knew her. She made the house she and Burt built into a home for their family. Family and friends knew that when “Daddy” arrived home at 5:15 everyone would be at the table to partake of Betty’s cooking. Betty loved to cook and enjoyed celebrating birthdays and holidays. Special days would find friends and family from miles around gathered to enjoy food and fill the house with laughter and joy.
