I was very sad to discover just today, after searching the internet for him, that Jay died in July. We had been exchanging emails on a variety of topics for some years since he called me unexpectedly several years ago. He seemed a little isolated and depressed and recently fell silent.
We were room mates in fall of 1969 at Berkeley at Kidd Hall, one of the Cooperatives. We remained friends for many years and after Jay married Susan we socialized from time to time, and I did some work on their house in San Francisco. We lost track of each other after Susan died and he moved to Oregon. I really enjoyed our recent exchanges of emails although we had not seen each other in person since Susan's memorial in San Francisco.
