Please share a memory of Jean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jean O. Stulbarg passed away peacefully july 3, 2013 at the age of 82, in Vancouver, Washington, from causes related to age. She was born to Helen and Henry Orton in 1920 in Hollywood, CA. After spending a few years in Europe when Jean was a little girl, the majority of her life was spent in Cincinnati, Ohio. She attended Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati and graduated in 1938. Jean then attended Tulane University for two years until the WWII broke out and she met the love of her life, Milton Stulbarg. They married in 1941 and were together for 53 happy years until Milt died in 1993. Jean loved having a family and being a mother of 3 boys. In her duties as a mother she took wonderful care of her husband and children. She had many activities and interests including horseback riding, bridge, golf, travel and spending time with friends. In her free time she also volunteered at the hospital as a "candy striper" and chaired an organization_ The "Call for Action" which helped people resolve their consumer complaints. Once the children left for college, Jean and her husband as well as their good friends traveled all over the world including China, Europe, Antartica, riding an elephant to look for tigers in India and viewing grizzzly and polar bears in Canada. Jean and Milt moved to Rancho Santa Fe, CA in 1976 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Without a doubt, Jean's most important task was being a caring mother and grandmother- "the most important day in your life are when your children are born. It's what life is all about and you love them so much. " This epitomized Jean's life. Jean moved to Vancouver, Washington in March, 2006 to live closer to her son and family. Jean was preceded in her death by her husband, Milton Stulbarg; her brother, Stewart Orton; and son, Dr. Michael Stulbarg. She is survived by her children John, Bill and his wife Margaret. In addition, six grandchildren: Andy, Katy, Christina, Kelsey, Jay and Kristin and 7 great grandchildren. The family wants to acknowledge the wonderful care and diligence of the assistant living staff at Touchmark and Hospice Southwest.
