Obituary of Stanley Burks

Stanley Auburn Burks went to be with his Lord on Thursday, May 8, 2008. Born on February 20, 1933 in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Stanley was 75 years old. A 31 year resident of Chino, California, Stanley and his wife lived the last two years in Camas, Washington. He was a Veteran of the US Army during the Korean War driving a Jeep for the military personnel. Later he worked in the shipyards in San Pedro, CA, as a foreman in construction in California, as a maintenance man for Calvary Chapel in Chino Valley, and as a security guard for the City of Pomona's Library. He also belonged to the Senior Patrol for ten years in Chino, and was a member of Crossroads Community Church in Vancouver, Washington. Stanley enjoyed fishing, bowling, and spending time with his family. Stanley is survived by his loving wife of 12 years Irma at home, his children John (Linda) Burks, Richard (Stacey) Lopez, Frances (Henry) Brower, Matthew (Nadia) Chavez all of California, and Greg (Shauna) Chavez of Washington, eighteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one nephew and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his first wife Nell Burks, and brothers Arvil and Michael Burks. There will be a Celebration of Life Service for Stanley on Friday, May 16th at 1:00 pm at Brown's Funeral Home in Camas, Washington. Interment will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. Viewing will be held on Thursday, May 15th from 12:00-5:00 pm at Brown's Funeral Home in Camas. Memorials in Stanley's honor may be sent to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital: 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942. Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
