Obituary of Stephen Runyan

Stephen Runyan died of complications of Leukemia on Thursday, August 21, 2008 in Vancouver, Washington.
A former resident of Redondo Beach, California for over forty years, Stephen was born in 1943 in Hawthorne, California. As a youngster he went with his family to homestead in Alaska. He graduated from the Crescent City California High School in 1961 and was one of the many citizen volunteers who helped in the aftermath of the Crescent City Tsunami of 1964.
Stephen served in the US Army. He was a carrier of classified documents for years and served in Vietnam for a year. Following his Army service, he became a member of the El Segundo Police Force. He worked at the Southern California Edison generating plants in El Segundo and Redondo Beach for over twenty years before moving to Washington. He loved square dancing, where he met his wife Angela Tribulato. He was also active in the American Youth Soccer Organization as a parent, coach, and referee.
Stephen is survived by his wife Angela, children Elizabeth and Alex Runyan, mother Harriett Wheeler of Camas, WA, father and stepmother Darrell and Sue Runyan of Las Vegas, NV, sisters Susan Snyder and Nancy Sullivan both of Washougal, WA, brothers Timothy and Geoffry Wheeler of Medford, OR, and brother and sister-in-law Pat and Debbie Runyan of Las Vegas, NV, and his nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Stephen's life on Tuesday, August 26th at Brown's Funeral Home in Camas. Memorials may be sent to the Ray Hickey Hospice House.
