Obituary of Pearl Shields

Pearl E. Wardle Shields of Bend, OR, passed away peacefully October, 10, 2008 at age 99. She was born in Sacramento, CA to Ralph and Pearl Wardle. She spent her childhood in Sacramento and Ashland, OR. She graduated from Ashland High School and attended Ashland Normal School, now Southern Oregon University. She married Marshall "Dutch" Shields in December 1935. They resided in Vancouver for fifty years before she moved to Bend in 1985. Pearl was a homemaker who enjoyed her family and friends. She was an avid knitter and knitted hundreds of sweaters and afghans for family and friends. Pearl is survived by her daughter Jane Lussier of Bend, five grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Marshall, and sons William and Jack. Interment will take place at the Camas Cemetery in Camas. Memorials may be sent to Hospice Center: 2075 NE Wyatt Ct., Bend, OR 97701. Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with local arrangements.
