Obituary of Lella White

Lella (Mickey) was born in Washougal, Washington on May 18, 1909 to George and Grace Acker. She passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 in Vancouver, Washington. She graduated from Washougal High School and Benke Walker Business College in Portland, Oregon. Mickey married William White in 1934 and for 59 years lived most of their married life in the Seattle, Covington, and Kent, Washington areas. They enjoyed golfing, bowling, square and round dancing, hiking, playing cards, and gardening. Mickey was an accomplished wood carver, making many birds, animals, fish, and flowers in relief. She also loved to crochet and read. She had lived in the Cascade Inn since 1997 and leaves behind many friends and five generations of nieces and nephews. Even at 99 Mickey would often be helping others, be it reading to the blind, pushing a wheelchair or brining a tray from the kitchen for an ill friend. If there was something that could be done ease someone's load, she was right there with a helping hand. Mickey was preceded in death by her husband and three brothers. There will be a Graveside Service for Mickey on Monday, November 17th at 11:00 am at the Camas Cemetery.
