Obituary
Obituary of Edwin McKenzie
Please share a memory of Edwin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dave McKenzie was the youngest of eight children, and a dairy farmer most of his life.
In 1986 when the dairy was sold, he became a general contractor building many homes in
Clark County before retiring in 2000. Dave and his wife Becky sold the family home in
1996 and moved to Battleground, WA, and then settled finally in Camas in 2003.
Dave served on the Evergreen School Board for 16 years, an experience he found both satisfying and rewarding. Baseball was Dave's big love. He was active in Evergreen Little League for about 20 years as a manager of various baseball teams. His teams' successes offered him many opportunities for lighting his trademark victory cigar! A lifelong diehard Boston Red Sox fan, he had the pleasure of seeing them play at Fenway Park in Boston in August of 2000; it was truly one of the highlights of his life.
In later years, Dave and Becky enjoyed many happy times staying in their favorite resort on the Oregon Coast at Yachats, OR, which boasts a rocky and beautiful coastline where Dave loved to watch the waves beat and break onto the rocks.
On being received into the Catholic Church, Dave and Becky became a part of the parish community at St. Thomas Aquinas at Easter, 2006.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth Webster McKenzie and Olive McKenzie, nee Roundtree, his brothers Kenneth and James, and sisters Florence Bridge and Lola Barnes.
He is survived by his wife Becky, nee Toedtli, sons Rory (Lisa), Kris (Rebekah), and Dale (Edith) and daughter Jill Dimitry (Steve) and 14 grandchildren: Irene, Vince, Eleanor, Wilfred, Emily, Wilson, Maggie, Mary, Joe, Katie, Ian, Harold, Jimmy, and Justin.
There will be a Funeral Mass for Dave on Tuesday, September 8th at 10:00 am at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Camas. Vault interment will follow at the Fern Prairie Cemetery in Camas. Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements. To send condolences or to sign the online guestbook, please visit www.brownsfh.com.
