Winifred "Winnie" Ellen Hawkins peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 in Vancouver, Washington. Born on October 23, 1929 in New York, New York, Winnie was 80 years old.
A two year Vancouver resident, Winnie was lived from 1955-2008 in Portland, Oregon. She was a member of Hinson Memorial Baptist Church, and the Dachshunds Club. She won numerous championships as a member of the Dachshunds Club, and also enjoyed gardening, sewing, and arts and crafts.
Winnie is survived by her daughter Dawn de Bracy of Washougal, sister Rhoda (Ira) Kite of Stevenson, Washington, and Dorothy (John) Hancock of La Porte, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years Walter Hawkins in 2002 and brother William "Buddy" Behrndt.
There will be no public services. Private interment will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
