Dear family, I am writing on behalf of myself and my mother, Thelma Prause. When I was a little girl my parents, Dale and Thelma Poe, used to camp with Jim and Carol and their boys. I grew up knowing the Martells and even after my dad Dale passed away and my mother married Al Prause, our familes stayed in contact with one another. My mother, Thelma Prause and I wanted to express our love and understanding to Jim's family. There was never a time Jim didn't succeed in making me laugh or at the very least a smile on a bad day! I have fond memories of he and Carol and so does my mother. I loved reading how Jim loved to watch the WHS Panthers beat the CHS Papermakers! I am a 1965 graduate of Washougal High School who was a cheerleader all through high school and definitely continue to share Jim's love for the WHS Panthers. I hope time will help ease the hurt you each now feel and in time all the beautiful memories you have of Jim will put a smile on your face and even make you laugh! May God bless each of you, George & Carol (Poe) Masten Thelma Prause

"Grandpa Martel" was a great supporter of Washougal football. I admired him and greatly appreciated his support in my season as coach there. My condolences to his loving family.

Jim, John and all - Truly sorry to hear about your Dad. He was one of those bigger than life people. Always had time to chat when I saw him. He never looked his age, so I assumed he would live forever. Maybe he can get together with my Uncle now and continue to harass our Grandpa!

Always enjoyed visiting with Jim. He always had his big smile and made me feel right and home and at ease with him. Hope the family will remember the good times you all had with him. Will miss him, but know he is with friends, family and god...and probably all sharing a laugh...

Jim and family.... I received an email from Tim telling me about about your Dad's passing. The last time I saw your Dad was on the infamous Camas-Washougal gambling bus. He was always so nice to talk with and that smile was the first thing one saw. Please know that John and I are thinking of you and the family. Your Dad loved his family so much and was so proud of everyone. When he spoke of you all, his eye's lit up and that wonderful smile of his grew wider. He is now with his beloved Carol and Rick. May all the great memories you hold in your heart help you through this sad time. In friendship, Peggy & John Dunn

Dear Jim and Sharon, John and Karen and Sharon on the hill, Jim was such a special, longtime friend to me and he will always be in my heart. As sad as his passing is, we all know he hated his existence the past year. Knowing that, I'm glad he is where he wanted to go. I respect his wishes and say Amen to them. Rest easy, JIMBO, we'll see you again.
