Obituary of Jake Edward Thompson
Jake Edward Thompson, born on September 21, 2003 was a gift to us that was taken too early from our lives on June 24, 2017 at 13 years old. Jake was a young, vibrant, fearless cowboy who was a friend to everyone with a smile we will never forget. Jake had a passion and gift to ride horses. He had a fearless spirit that never held back. He spent hours practicing roping with his dad, brother and family friends at our home in Camas, Washington. Jake was a competitor in the NYRA Youth Rodeo Association from the age of 2 and was on the Cinch Rodeo Team for OJHRA this year. He was a 7th grader at Liberty Middle School in Camas, Washington. Jake loved sports and played CCYF Football for 2 seasons and planned on playing football for Camas in 8th grade. He also enjoyed wrestling and playing basketball.
Some of Jake's favorite things were his horse he picked out himself and named "Joe Dirt", our family dogs Bubba, Gunner and Lucy, he made sure to spend time with them everyday. Jake spent many hours with family members hunting, fishing, riding quads and snowmobiling. He enjoyed mechanical things, bought a Chevy 4x4 at 11 years old to go 4 wheeling out on the family ranch. He had knowledge of fixing things if broken. We could always count on Jake to drive the tractor around the hay fields or persistently ask to drive it all the way to Grammies house.
Jake was a delight to all who knew him, young and old. He will forever be remembered for his fearless spirit, his great sense of humor and although his time on earth was short he lived each day to the fullest. We know without a doubt that Jake has already won the prize of life, he has made it to Heaven. At the young age of 8 years old at the Clark County Rodeo Bible Camp Jake made the decision to ask Jesus into his heart and was baptized. Although we have no words and do not understand why God needed to take our boy home, we believe that Jake is with Jesus and is already roping and riding in Heaven. Our days on earth without him here will seem long, but through faith we know that in just a matter of time our arms will be around our Jake again.
Jake had family members that went to Heaven before him, his Aunt Jeanie Webberley, his Aunt Wendee Weygandt and his Grandpa Gene Thompson. Jake is survived by his Parents, Joe & Dawn Thompson, his Brothers, Ryley and Jace; Maternal Grandparents, Harold and Jeanette Webberley; Paternal Grandmother, Marlene Thompson and many Uncles, Aunts and Cousins.
We would like to invite all who want to come celebrate Jake's life to Vancouver Church on July 8 at 2:00 pm, 3300 NE 78th St. Vancouver, Wa 98665. A private graveside service will be held for family only.
