Brother McClung gave a message during a Christian camp meeting in 1967 about 2 Kings 6:5. He conveyed such passion in his message, moving my heart to repentance - "alas , the ax head was borrowed". Thinking myself to be a person of empathy I placed my feeling up against the feeling expressed by Orval .... and came up short. It was a feeling I remember to this day. Our natural righteousness cannot match the righteousness of Christ! But, He is working to transform us our whole lives ... miraculous mercy. I look forward to some (day) being able to thank Orval for moving my (19 year old) heart closer to the Lord.

To Grandma McClung and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I am grieving my grandfather's passing. I have lived in San Diego for the past 20+ years but never stopped thinking about my grandpa and his beautiful smile and dimples. He was loved so much by all of his family and was truly A man of God. He will be deeply missed. I especially want to let grandma know that I am praying for her to have God's comfort wrapped around her. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH GRANDMA! I know he is up in heaven now, running around and having a ball. I love you grandpa! Love your grandaughter Sherry.

I have very fond memories of time spent with Orval while living on Silver Star Ranch. Orval displayed such kindness, love and wisdom from above which came from many hours spent with the Father. Orval was quick to hear and slow to speak, but when he did it was seasoned with such love and grace. He will indeed be missed by all who had the privelege of knowing him. Now it is time to celebrate a life well lived.

Orval was probably the deepest influence for the Kingdom of God for Kim and I as we learned of God's loving ways, and provision for us as baby and young Christians. There is no way on this earth that the impact and steady influence of this couple and especially Orval can be stated. We will leave that to the one who authored and empowered them to live lives that showed so clearly the love and righteousness of God. We so rejoice that He is at last where he had longed to be, and we hold dear Irene close at heart during this time of separation. May it be sweeter and shorter than hoped. Bill and Kim Upson

Our family in southern oregon which includes Richard and Betty Sutton and Shelley and Joe Todd and Caleb And Aden todd and Dixie and Sid Hohbein would like to let the family know our thoughts are with you at this difficult time. We always appreciated it when uncle Orval would would come to visit us at our family Farm when his mother was living. He was always pleasant to visit with and enjoyed his uplifting sense of humor and listening to his wealth of experience and knowledge he had accumulated over the many years of his life. He was loved by many and will also be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
